Cottage Grove Random Runners (CGRR) was started in fall of 2014 with the creation of a Facebook page and a call to the local paper. The group has grown from three people, who started it to share their love and support of the running community, to over 800 followers / runners on the page.
A ten-year celebration was held on Sunday, Sept. 29 at Hamlet Park in Cottage Grove, the original starting place of the group. The celebration events included a silent auction, raffle, potluck, gear exchange and shoe drive - all to benefit the local community – and of course a run! A 5K with a twist where the runner predicted their time before the run and won by being the closest to their predicted time without going over it. No watches allowed on the run! The 5K was put on by Athena Clydesdale Racing out of Woodbury at no charge to the CGRR group.
